ITV bosses are giving soap fans an extra special treat as its soaps go up against coverage of the Olympics in the TV schedules.
So Emmerdale and Coronation Street viewers don’t have to miss out on all the sporting action unfolding in Paris over on the BBC, episodes of both soaps are dropping early on ITVX over the next two weeks.
On each day of transmission, fans will be able to stream new episodes of Corrie and Emmerdale from 7am on the platform.
A post on the soaps’ official Instagram pages informed fans of the schedule shake-up – but they were also issued with a strict warning.
‘We’re giving you a little treat this summer whilst the Olympics are on,’ the post read.
‘But remember to keep this a spoiler free zone for those watching in the evening.’
Both shows will still air in their regular slots on ITV1, with Emmerdale going out weeknights at 7.30pm, and Corrie following at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Soap bosses similarly gave fans the chance to watch the soaps first on ITVX during the Euros earlier this summer, as both shows were frequently moved around the schedules to accommodate coverage of the matches.
Meanwhile, EastEnders fans are facing continued disruption to their regular viewing, as the soap has been bumped out of its BBC One slot, instead airing on BBC Two at 7.30pm from Monday to Thursday during the duration of the Games.
As ever, though, each episode will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am each day.
