The i newspaper – Forest furore: Club dismayed after they are docked 4 points for breaking financial rules
The back page of the i newspaper leads on the latest Premier League club to be docked points for breaking rules. It means Notts Forest are now in the relegation zone, and Luton are now in 17th place – just outside the drop.
Nottingham Forest deducted four points for breaching Premier League FFP rules
Nottingham Forest have been deducted four points by the Premier League after being found guilty of breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
This means Forest drop to 18th in the top flight with nine games remaining of the 2023-24 season, taking them into the relegation zone.
Their punishment is two points fewer than the six-point penalty Everton received, reduced from 10 after an appeal, for a similar breach in the period 2019-2022.

Man Utd’s summer transfer budget could be dented by large unpaid tax bill
HMRC is holding talks with Manchester United about the amount of tax paid on arrangements with players and agents in what could hamper future transfer budgets.
With financial regulations biting in the Premier League, if the club is forced to pay significant money to the UK tax authorities it could further hinder spending power in the upcoming transfer windows. The club do not yet know how much they may have to pay.
United were unable to spend liberally in January due to needing to balance the books and the outcome of discussions with HMRC, around the interpretation of rules regarding the amount of tax owed on dealings with players and their representatives, will likely impact budgets.
