Claudia Winkleman’s ‘truly unique’ show revived after The Traitors success
Claudia Winkleman’s popularity has reached new heights after winning the nation over as host of The Traitors.
Now her on-pause Channel 4 game show, One Question, is making a comeback.
There’s no doubt that Claudia’s charm and steadfast chaotic commentary are a huge part of the BBC show Traitors’ success each year, with season three viewership peaking at over 10 million.
So for fans who can’t get enough of the 53-year-old Strictly star, you’re in luck as she’ll be back on screen imminently for the suddenly rebooted quiz show, One Question.
In 2022, Claudia hosted the first season of the show which requires a pair of contestants to simply answer one question right by eliminating 19 incorrect options in a bid to secure the £100,000 cash prize.
Positive reviews at the time meant Channel 4 renewed the show for a second season in 2023, but we’ve heard neither hide nor hair of it… until now.
Claudia will be back in the hosting seat to quiz our hopeful couples in February in an unexpected return.
‘I’m completely obsessed with this show and am so happy we get to do it again. No buzzers, no fancy lighting, no hoo haa. Just one question and I can give our brilliant players 100k. Plus there’s sitting down. I’m a big fan of sitting down,’ Claudia said when the show was originally renewed.
Tom Beck, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 added that it was ‘brilliant to have the incomparable Claudia Winkleman back’ and Head of Entertainment, Phil Harris, shared that ‘what started as a hilarious pilot in a dark Manchester studio is now on the brink of becoming a global success’.
Mike Benson, Managing Director and Executive Producer for Chalkboard TV, praised Claudia, adding: ‘Of course it goes without saying that it’s fantastic to be working with Claudia who is the perfect host of a very different type of quiz.’
And Motion Content Group’s Head of Formats and Entertainment, Martin Oxley, echoed: ‘Series one introduced the public to a truly unique new format, and it’s going to be exciting to see how much this year’s players can win from the show.’
It’s not the only time Claudia will be gracing our TV sets next month. She’ll also be guest-hosting The Graham Norton Show on February 28 while the Irish comedian is on tour in Australia.
‘I apologise in advance,’ she joked to Graham when he confirmed the news on a recent episode.
Of course, we’ll also see Claudia back for an already-confirmed fourth season of The Traitors (for which applications are now open).
Reflecting on what exactly has made this show such an unexpectedly mammoth success, Claudia recently told Grazia: ‘We didn’t foresee this. We went to Scotland with the amazing people who make it and a pair of red fingerless gloves and gave it our best shot.
‘I think people like it because the psychology is extraordinary – just watching people work out whether they’re being lied to. The dynamics feel addictive. I’m completely obsessed.’
And with the promise of a Celebrity Traitors UK edition, there’s plenty more to come.
One Question returns to Channel 4 on Friday, February 14 at 8pm.
