These days, it’s impossible to imagine life without Uber.
Since its UK launch in 2012, the ride-hailing app has revolutionised transport. No more missed buses, delayed trains, or eye-wateringly expensive cabs; when it comes to travel, the sky truly is the limit with Uber (No, really. You can book planes with them now).
In the past month alone, it’s estimated that over a quarter of Brits have used Uber. 8.8 million of us also use Uber to commute to work, while 13.5 million of us use it to visit friends and family.
But what are we like as passengers? Having a high Uber rating is a source of pride for many of us, but Londoners need to work on their manners.
The best Uber passenger ratings from best to worst
Cambridge and East Anglia – 4.89
Stoke – 4.88
Brighton and Sussex – 4.86
Edinburgh – 4.86
Sheffield – 4.85
Cardiff – 4.85
Oxford – 4.84
Glasgow – 4.83
Leeds – 4.82
Manchester – 4.82
Nottingham – 4.82
Leicester – 4.81
Birmingham – 4.76
London – 4.72
New data released from Uber ranked the highest and lowest average Uber passenger scores in different parts of the country.
While Merseyside and Cambridge take the cake for best passengers, clocking up scores of 4.9 and 4.89 respectively, it seems like London Uber drivers are suffering the most, with passengers in the capital amassing an average rating of 4.72.
At first glance, this score doesn’t look that bad — but it’s worth mentioning that Uber scores usually range between 4.5-5.
But what is it about Londoners that makes them such bad Uber passengers?
Well, according to the drivers, the main reasons they’ll score a passenger lower include not wearing your seatbelt, slamming the door, being rude and abusive, trying to smoke out the window, and eating in the vehicle.
Ultimately, it looks like London could learn a thing or two from Merseyside — and that goes for Birmingham as well.
To find out your personal average rating breakdown, follow these simple steps. Improve your score and you could bag yourself a free ride home for Christmas.
