Christian Eriksen agrees in principle to join Man United
Christian Eriksen has reportedly agreed in principle to sign for Manchester United on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old Dane’s short-term contract at Brentford ended last month and though it’s understood he could have stayed with Brentford, it appears the lure of the Red Devils was too much.
Eriksen will need to pass his medical at Old Trafford before signing the three-year contract that is being drawn up.
If signed, Eriksen will be United’s second signing of the summer transfer window, having already snapped up Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia undergoing a medical at Carrington ahead of his move.
Eriksen was released from Serie A club Inter Milan after having an ICD fitted, and returned to the Premier League when he joined Brentford in January.
Unlike the English top-flight, players who have ICDs are not allowed to play in the Serie A. Eriksen had the ICD fitted following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
It is understood it was a tough decision for Eriksen to make, considering the opportunity given to him by Brentford following the cardiac arrest and the fact his family enjoy living in London. But the lure of Manchester United was reportedly just too strong.
Eriksen had previously played for London club Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2020 and they reportedly had an interest in re-signing him before focusing elsewhere.
