Chris Eubank Snr has revealed the extent of his strained relationship with Chris Eubank Jr, insisting his son has stopped listening and surrounded himself with ‘yes men’ and ‘PE teachers’.
Eubank Snr, one of the country’s finest ever fighters, led his son for much of his professional career after his debut in 2011 but he has not appeared in his corner since 2019.
Former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr became Eubank Jr’s trainer in 2021 but Eubank Jr had hoped for his father to return to his side for last October’s doomed showdown with Conor Benn.
Eubank Snr expressed grave reservations over that fight and attempted to pull him out of it. The grudge match between the two sons of British boxing royalty was eventually called off after Benn failed two drug tests but the rift between father and son has remained.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the former middleweight and super-middleweight champion explained his son sent him a letter to end their partnership in boxing, with Snr insisting his first born does not have the ‘humility’ to retract it.
He went onto describe what is going on with his son inside the boxing ring as a ‘disgrace’, slamming the team led by Jones Jr in the wake of the crushing defeat to Liam Smith in January.
Former champion David Haye has also joined that set-up with Eubank Snr revealing a recent conversation with the former heavyweight champion over his son’s lack of progress.

‘David Haye called me the other day and said [Eubank Jr] doesn’t spar, he does everything that he wants to do, he’s got ‘yes men’ around him,’ Eubank Snr said.
‘And so it seems to me, by what David Haye tells me that he’s still not listening.’
He continued: ‘If you won’t listen then life will teach you what it taught many of the other fighters… It is arrogance when you shut your ears and what arrogance gets you is what it got him in his last fight.
‘The calibre of Liam Smith does not beat Chris Eubank Jr on my watch.

‘Junior on my watch is not supposed to lose to Liam Smith, on the watch of these PE teachers anything can happen and anything did.’
In the studio, Eubank Snr was played an audio clip of talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan labelling Eubank Jr a ‘charlatan’ having lost in each of his three fights where he has taken on world level opposition in Billy Joe Saunders, George Groves and Smith at the start of the year.
Asked if he agreed with that statement, Eubank Snr paused before stating: ‘In the world of honesty, how can I disagree with you? I guess my silence says it all. Truth is truth.’
