Children are among 15 people injured after a fairground ride malfunctioned and collapsed.

At least 25 people were on the tower swing in Rajasthan, India, when a cable broke and it plummeted to the ground.

Footage shows the swing in the air, before it suddenly crashes to the floor and lands with a bang.

Children’s screams ring out as horrified bystanders helplessly look on.

It is understood as soon as the swing broke down, the operator fled the scene.

Police and ambulances attended the fairground and the riders were rushed to hospital.

This is not the first time a fairground ride has malfunctioned in India.

In February, a ferris wheel broke down leaving riders dangling upside down.

Footage from Rajmahal shows it swinging dangerously as people below try to help them down.

The cart then breaks away from the ride as it approaches the ground.
