A child has died after falling from a high rise flat in south London earlier this afternoon.

Metropolitan Police are reportedly not treating the death as suspicious, but are investigating the incident on Hotspur Street, Brixton.

Paramedics and officers were unable to save the child.

A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 4.23pm on Friday, May 24, to a child having fallen from the upper floor of a flat on Hotspur Street, SE11.

‘Officers attended along with LAS [London Ambulance Service]. Despite their efforts, the child was pronounced dead. The child’s family have been informed.

‘At this very early stage, there is nothing to indicate that the incident is suspicious, however enquires are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
