Chelsea have been handed an injury boost with Levi Colwill and Malo Gusto returning to training ahead of the return of the Premier League.
Colwill withdrew from the England squad ahead of final Euro 2024 qualifies against Malta and North Macedonia with a shoulder problem. The 21-year-old also missed the 4-4 draw with Manchester City prior to the international break having previously started all of the Blues’ Premier League games this term.
Gusto meanwhile withdrew from the France Under-21 squad with a knee injury.
There was good news for the Blues this week however with both defenders back on the training pitch and are expected to be available for the trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.
Chrostopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are also continuing to step their respective returns from injury although it remains to be seen whether either player will be deemed fit enough for selection this weekend.
Both summer signings are still to make their competitive debuts for Chelsea.
Fans are desperate to see Nkunku in action following his impressive stint at Leipzig, where he registered 70 goals and 56 assists across 172 games.

But a serious knee injury suffering in pre-season ruled him out since his switch to Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino is excited by Nkunku’s return and praised the attitude he has shown throughout his time on the sidelines.
‘We had a conversation and he said to me “I want to be ready for after the international break,”‘ the Argentine said before the international break.
‘I said to him yesterday “you are a liar”, but he is doing really well and we are very happy with how he is doing with his recovery. He is very professional.
Hopefully next week he can be back involved with the team [in training] and then day by day see how it goes from there.’
Lavia, who joined in a £58million move from Southampton, spent the opening weeks of the season getting up to speed with life under Mauricio Pochettino. But an ankle injury suffered in training in September delayed his introduction to the side.
