Celebrity Big Brother’s Danny Beard addresses Mickey Rourke’s ‘abhorrent’ remarks
Celebrity Big Brother runner-up Danny Beard reflected on how Mickey Rourke’s homophobic comments made him seem like a ‘lost little boy’.
The ITV reality series finale crowned Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd as the winner, with the Drag Race icon Danny hot on his heels as in second place.
During his sofa interview with co-hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best he reflected on his time in the house with several controversial figures including the former Conservative MP Michael Fabricant and Hollywood star Mickey.
The 72-year-old actor was booted out after a series of warnings from Big Brother, including homophobic language towards JoJo Siwa, inappropriate sexual comments to Ella Rae Wise and aggressive behaviour towards Chris Hughes.
Asked about his ‘unlikely friendships’ with Mickey and Michael, Danny first cracked a joke about the ongoing speculation over whether Michael is wearing a wig.
‘I thought I was this open book, this little queer boy. And then I was like, “great a Tory”.

‘Actually I’ve learnt you’ve got more in common with everyone and if we all just take a breather in this world and we realise we’ve got more in common with people than we realise,’ he said to applause.
He then spoke up in favour of the transgender community.
‘I don’t want to make this political but I have so many trans friends and I see judgement that people like my trans friends get and everyone with an opinion of them doesn’t know a trans person.

‘I’m sorry to get into that but that’s made me look at myself as well.’
He then addressed his complicated feelings around Mickey’s remarks towards JoJo which included him saying he could ‘turn her straight’.
‘Mickey had some abhorrent, awful views actually but I saw this little lost boy in there, this child that needed care and mother came out,’ he concluded.
Danny had several memorable moments in the house such as when he had an almighty fall on some fake play blocks while dressed in a red polka dot dress.

And when he asked housemate Donna (who came fourth) whether she had ever pegged Chesney Hawkes to which she responded a resounding no.
Elsewhere in the finale, JoJo and Chris opened up about their ‘beautiful friendship’ and plans to play tennis together as they defended against accusations that there was anything more between them.
Meanwhile, our winner, Jack, shared his gratitude at clinching the win with an impressive 37% of the audience vote but Danny wasn’t far behind with 35%.
