Big Brother can be many things – chaotic, wholesome, exposing, funny, and dramatic – but it is also the ultimate social experiment.

The reality show began in 2000 billing itself as exactly that, and although the marketing has gone off in different directions, the core of the programme has remained the same. It’s not just the housemates who are part of the experiment, but also the viewers who ultimately decide the results.
