Merz’s CDU and its Bavarian sister party the Christian Social Union (CSU) have struck a coalition deal with the SPD to form a new government. The coalition agreement came after the CDU came in first place in snap German elections in February.   

Brice Oligui Nguema, head of Gabon’s military junta, won 90.35% of the vote in the first election not under the Bongo family’s influence in 50 years, with a notably high turnout of 70.40%.

The Sudanese people are pleading for the army to help, as deadly attacks on Darfur famine-hit camps killing hundreds and violent abuse including widespread rape allegations.
