FIFA has abandoned its proposal to sell a 20% stake in a new unit managing World Cup events, intended to raise $4.2 billion, following significant opposition from member associations, particularly UEFA. President Gianni Infantino acknowledged the divisions the plan caused and confirmed the project’s discontinuation.

France will face Paraguay in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on 4 July at Philadelphia Stadium, kick-off at 5pm (21:00 GMT). The French team, led by Kylian Mbappe, aims to extend their flawless run, while Paraguay seeks to build on their recent upset of Germany.
