Negotiations between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda resumed in Geneva more than a year after an initial agreement aimed at resolving their conflict. Despite ongoing talks, fighting continues in eastern Congo, particularly influenced by the activities of M23 and the presence of Rwandan forces, complicating the peace efforts.

Scientists say they have, using Crispr gene-editing technology, been able to eliminate HIV from infected cells. The Nobel Prize-winning technology works like scissors, but at the molecular level, cutting DNA so “bad” bits can be removed or inactivated.
