The United Nations has approved a resolution to adopt a new world map reflecting accurate country sizes, specifically addressing colonial distortions. Supported by 164 votes and backed by African states and the Bahamas, the resolution promotes the Equal Earth projection over the Mercator map, which has historically minimised Africa’s true dimensions.
