WSL round-up: City beat Chelsea, Arsenal back in title race & Nobbs wonder strike gives Villa first win
Last year, Manchester United Women raked in revenues totalling £7 million, surpassing the average earnings of men’s professional teams in League Two (the fourth tier of professional men’s football in England). This remarkable increase of nearly £2 million from the previous year can be attributed to larger attendances and enhanced income from sponsorship agreements.
Attendance and viewership of the women’s game has skyrocketed in recent years in England, and plans for the next season suggest it’ll only keep growing.
The current Women’s Super League (WSL) attendance record came in Arsenal’s win over Chelsea at the Emirates on 10 December, which was watched by 59,042.
Every Women’s Super League (WSL) match is set to be broadcast live next season, in a landmark new deal that could be worth £20 million a year.
