Developer Thomas Worrall has received retrospective approval from Bath and North East Somerset Council for his seven-bedroom ‘mega mansion’ in a protected area, which was built significantly larger and taller than originally permitted. Local residents claimed over 100 objections, citing planning breaches.
A significant fire broke out in a flat on Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, on Bonfire Night, prompting the attendance of ten fire engines and 70 firefighters. One man jumped from a second floor and was hospitalised with minor injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Andrew Gardiner, 59, was killed after being struck by a car while walking home in Folkestone on Sunday. Known as the town’s ‘best-known postie’, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

The media, public and even Tory MPs were shocked by the announcement of a July 4 election. Many Tory MPs were hoping for a November election so the benefits of the improving economy could be felt in the pockets of the public.
The opinion polls still put the Conservatives far behind Labour and many struggle to see what the government’s plan is now.
