Six men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old in Clapham early on Saturday morning. Police received reports just after 4.30am, and the victim, who died after arriving at hospital, was believed to have been attacked near Clapham High Street.
Two boys, aged 10 and 12, were rescued after becoming trapped beneath Blackpool Pier as the tide rose. The youngsters clung to the structure for approximately 40 minutes. Despite their mother’s efforts to reach them, volunteer lifeboat crews arrived swiftly and transported the boys to paramedics onshore.
Ann Widdecombe’s family will hold a public memorial later this year following her murder on July 9. Prosecutors disclosed allegations against Joshua Kerry, 28, who is charged with killing the former MP by striking her 21 times with a hammer. He remains in custody until an Old Bailey appearance on October 9.

The tabloids lead to the discovery of a body in the Jay Slater case. Though not formally identified it is believed the body is that of the missing 19-year-old Brit, with early theories being that he slipped into a ravine and died. The papers note that rescue workers had to use a helicopter to reach the ravine and it’s believed specialists found Slater’s possessions.
