Adam Liaqat and Asad Khan have been sentenced to 15 and 13 years in prison, respectively, for their roles in a botched shooting on St Paul’s Road in Smethwick. Khan was injured when Liaqat accidentally discharged a firearm during their planned attack, leading to an investigation by West Midlands Police.
Lidl has launched its festive campaign, “Lidl Christmas Everybody,” featuring Shaun Williamson, known for his role as Barry Evans in EastEnders. Two Hampshire police officers are under investigation for potential gross misconduct following the death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, who was stabbed by Vickrum Digwa in December 2025. Footage shows officers handcuffed Nowak before realising he required urgent medical help. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is reviewing the case.

The PM is to deliver a speech on what he calls a “plan for change” for Britain. He will announce six “milestones” he hopes to reach, including building 1.5 million homes, fixing the NHS and delivering clean power by 2030.
