Data from the Environment Agency reveals over 3,400 toxic spills occurred in the UK during the first seven months of 2026, surpassing totals for the entirety of 2025. This includes seven major and 45 significant incidents, prompting renewed scrutiny of water companies under stricter pollution reporting regulations.
Kashim Chowdhury, a 55-year-old civil servant, stands trial at Southwark Crown Court, accused of fraudulently holding multiple full-time positions simultaneously. Prosecutors allege he earned nearly £350,000 from eight employers between February 2020 and September 2023, while claiming to work from home due to caring for his mother.
Tommi Harwood, 18, was sentenced to five years in prison following a conviction for raping a 16-year-old girl at Romford Station. Harwood, found guilty after a five-day trial, was also issued an indefinite restraining order and an eight-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
