Five men were arrested near RAF Fairford on suspicion of explosives offences after a suspected terror plot was intercepted. The suspects allegedly called police prior to their arrest, prompting an investigation into whether they were acting as proxies for Iran. No explosive devices were found, but petrol was recovered.
Joanne O’Keefe is raising £2,000 for a burial plot after repeated destruction of her son Alfie’s roadside memorial, following his hit-and-run death in November 2016. Learner driver Ali Bahramzadeh, uninsured and unlicensed, was jailed for a year for the incident.
Commuters at London Victoria are advised to find alternative routes following a trackside fire near Clapham Junction that damaged critical signalling equipment. Jenni Hermoso and other members of the Spain Women’s team will not represent their country until Luis Rubiales has been removed from his job as head of the Spanish football federation.
Rubiales has refused to resign from his role in the aftermath widespread condemnation for kissing midfielder Hermoso on the lips without consent during the trophy presentation following Spain’s World Cup victory over England.
56 players including Hermoso and her World Cup-winning teammates have now signed a joint statement demanding Rubiales be removed from his position at the top of Spanish football.
