Protesters are blocking a planned Orange Order march in Portadown, Northern Ireland, as police negotiators seek to resolve the impasse. The march, cleared by the Parades Commission for the first time in almost 30 years, has sparked significant unrest, with nationalists and Sinn Féin leaders joining the counter-demonstration.
September has seen significant closures across the UK high street, with over 260 restaurants and numerous shops shutting down. Notable losses include 106 Beefeater restaurants and 19 TG Jones shops. Foreways also closed five locations in Carlisle, impacting the local retail landscape.
Ten men have been sentenced to a total of 130 years for a revenge attack in Stoke-on-Trent, where a woman and her 13-year-old daughter were set on fire in December 2021. The 31-year-old victim suffered severe injuries, including 65% burns, while her daughter sustained 15% burns.
