Journalists at France’s Journal du Dimanche newspaper ended a 40-day strike on August 1, 2023 over the appointment of a far-right editor in chief.

Journalists at France’s sole dedicated Sunday newspaper announced on Tuesday they were halting one of the longest strikes in the recent history of French media, on the day a controversial editor aligned with the far right took up his post as editor in chief.

The Russian military said its anti-aircraft units thwarted a Ukrainian “terrorist attack” early on Tuesday and downed drones targeting Moscow, but one drone, sent out of control by its units, struck the same high-rise tower hit earlier in the week.
