The South Korean government has told over 1,000 junior doctors to return to work following numerous walkouts staged in opposition to plans for expanding the doctor workforce. Officials reported that more than 6,000 interns and residents had submitted their resignations on Monday.

Although Omar Ayub faces criminal charges, including those related to riots following Imran Khan’s arrest last year, this does not disqualify him from running for the position of prime minister.

Millions of people across Indonesia’s 17,000 islands and three time zones have now voted for their future president. The current frontrunner is former defence minister Prabowo Subianto, a retired general with a bloody human rights record.
