Carol Vorderman has blasted Jeremy Clarkson over his latest column, in which he described her as ‘awfully shouty’ over a disagreement she had with a couple of female MPs over the menopause.
Earlier this week, the I’m A Celebrity All Stars star entered a heated row with women’s minister Maria Caulfield, accusing the politician of not being ‘bothered to turn up’ to a committee hearing about the menopause.
Carol revealed that she had been blocked by Ms Caulfield on Twitter and called for her to resign, while the MP tweeted: ‘I am not a punch bag and if you post misleading information about me you will be blocked . Either you want a meaningful discussion on Twitter or you just want to abuse me. You can’t do both and I don’t have to tolerate the later.’
The politician’s tweet was seemingly in response to Carol previously writing: ‘Women’s Health Minister @mariacaulfield (also Mental Health minister) who was caught fibbing about a letter she had supposedly sent to excuse the fact she couldn’t be bothered to turn up to the Select Committee yday. Well she’s blocked me. Maria, show some respect & RESIGN [sic].’
Speaking at the hearing, the former Countdown star also criticised recent comments made by equalities minister Kemi Badenoch, stating: ‘I was horrified when I was watching Kemi Badenoch the minister for women and equalities a number of weeks ago when you were questioning her Caroline [Nokes], and I just could not as a woman, a postmenopausal woman who is from a working class background get over the patronising statements that she made. I thought they were insulting, they were insulting to all women.
‘She basically said to Caroline this was a left-wing issue, when we were talking about menopause and pilot in the workplace, and characteristically compared women going through terrible, terrible menopausal symptoms with those who would want to have certain things given by government to those with ginger hair, to short, it was just, what am I listening to here? It’s the 21st century. This was like going back 100 years to when women just had the vote, I could not believe it.

‘Women make up almost half of the workforce and yet these are the two women in government who are meant to be representing the female population. I was disgusted, to be perfectly honest, by both of them. Absolutely disgusted.’
In a new column published by The Sun, divisive commentator Jeremy felt the need to share his two cents on the situation, with a section titled: ‘Me thinks Carol doth protest too much.’
The presenter, who broke the record for the most complaints made about an article to Ipso (the Independent Press Standards Organisation) when he wrote an abhorrent column about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex in December, resulting in an investigation being launched by the company this February, penned: ‘In recent weeks, Carol Vorderman seems to have re-invented herself as a sort of anti-Tory, anti-sleaze warrior, and that’s fine. But she does seem to have become awfully shouty.’
The 62-year-old continued: ‘Having not got her way in a debate about the menopause this week, she said she had been “absolutely disgusted” by the attitude of two lady MPs.

‘That’s a bit strong, because if you’re “absolutely disgusted” by someone who disagrees with you about the menopause, then how do you describe your feelings towards a Russian soldier who’s just lobbed a hand grenade into a school? Surely, that would be “absolutely disgusting”. Whereas someone who doesn’t share your view in a debate is “mildly irritating”.’
In her response on Twitter, Carol sarcastically described the Clarkson’s Farm star as the ‘known defender of women’s rights’.
‘Well well. The known defender of women’s rights @JeremyClarkson has a go at a woman again🙋🏼♀️,’ the 62-year-old quipped.
Loose Women’s Denise also chimed in to voice her opposition to Jeremy (Picture: Twitter)
‘Jeremy love, if I am disgusted at MPs fibbing & not turning up as they are meant to do, then I’ll be “disgusted”.
‘Glad you used a nice photo tho or I might have been “mildly irritated”.’
After being accused by Carol of not being ‘bothered’ to attend the hearing, Ms Caulfield tweeted: ‘She hasn’t pointed out facts. I couldn’t attend yesterday as I was seeing women campaigners against painful hysteroscopy which had been in the diary for months. I have given alternative dates to the committee and they are the facts.’
Underneath Carol’s tweet, Loose Women panelist Denise Welch remarked about Jeremy: ‘What an absolute tool he is 🤬,’ to which Carol added: ‘😂😂 which tool tho Dens? An Old Hack-Saw?’
Last year, Carol revealed that she has received a string of derogatory comments after criticising Jeremy’s vile comments about the Duchess of Sussex.

‘The Clarkson Effect. I’ve received a lot of abuse obvs, but it’s like watching the last death throes of a dinosaur age. Sad souls who are angry at new thought, at equality, at kindness,’ she wrote at the time.
‘BUT this chapter has also brought the calm, normally silent, people together. We fight on.’
