Carol Vorderman was absolutely floored by Miriam Margolyes’ on-air F-bomb directed at Jeremy Hunt in the best possible way.
Like all of us, it sounds like the former Countdown star was absolutely howling over the Harry Potter actress’ outburst on BBC Radio 4 after Prime Minister Liz Truss appointed Hunt to replace Kwasi Kwarteng as Chancellor after the latter was sacked following just 38 days in the role.
On Saturday morning radio, Miriam admitted to hosts Justin Webb and Martha Kearney that she never thought she’d be ‘sitting in the seat’ where Hunt had been sitting.
‘The thing is, when I saw him there, I just said, “You’ve got a hell of a job, the best of luck.” Of course what I wanted to say was, “F**k you, you b*****d!” But you can’t say that,’ she then added with her signature flair.
The presenters scrambled to stop her from saying anything further that could cause more issues pre-watershed, but Webb laughed and said: ‘Oh no no no you mustn’t say that. We’ll have to have you out of the studio now.’
Not surprisingly, Miriam’s comments left people in stitches, and Carol has hailed the star a ‘genius’ for the way she handled her own remarks.

She tweeted: ‘This is genius….the bit that gets me most of all, having said “F you…you b*****D” live on air is…..”But you can’t say that”…. genius……. like the cutest puppy wagging its tail right after destroying a cushion. God we love you @MMargolyes (sic)’
Others responded to the wild moment online, with plenty of people clearly enjoying the slip-up, with one listener writing: ‘Possibly the greatest moment of radio… ever.’
‘I really think Miriam needs to come out of her shell a bit,’ a different person quipped, while another added: ‘OMG Miriam Margolyes. Love her so much.’
Later in the broadcast, Webb apologised again and added: ‘When I watched the Rugby on BT Sport they always apologised when you hear words that you possibly shouldn’t have heard, as they put it on BT Sport, in the scrum.
‘Well, we apologise to you if you heard a word that you shouldn’t have heard, earlier on. The rest of Miriam Margolyes’ interview was wonderful though.’
According to BBC news, Miriam told producers ‘she had mistakenly believed she was off air’ when she made the comments.
