Carol McGiffin was reportedly forced to quit Loose Women after a public Covid-19 rant.

During a discussion aired on TNT talk radio Carol revealed that she thought the pandemic could be a plot by the World Health Organisation to take down governments.

The 63-year-old added that the government was ‘conspiring to brainwash the public, causing a mass mental health breakdown, after being “bought off by the Government”‘, the Daily Mail reported.

Carol also accused Health Secretary Matt Hancock of transporting patients from France to fill empty hospital beds in the UK.

This allegedly led to a backlash, whereby people phoned ITV to demand her dismissal according to the publication.

Carol was a panelist on the show from 2000 to 2013 before rejoining in 2018. She has confirmed she is departing once more but explained it was a contract issue.

‘The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say ‘no thanks,’” she wrote in Best magazine.

She added that she’s been ‘quite upset about it’, and said it was a decision she was ‘forced to make’.

‘No one in their right mind would have signed that contract,’ she continued. ‘And I can’t see a way back from it.’

Her co-stars have backed her all the way though, sharing their support on Instagram.

Denise Welch also shared she was ‘gutted’, while Carol’s regular sparring partner Nadia Sawahla said: ‘Miss you smelly poo! Even though we disagreed on most things you’ve always made me laugh my head off!’

Metro.co.uk have contacted ITV and Carol McGiffin’s representatives for comment.
