Christopher Judge couldn’t help himself (Picture: YouTube)
The funniest quip of The Game Awards has turned into a playground fight between God Of War and Call Of Duty fans.
Thanks to increased security, The Game Awards this year concluded with less drama than in 2022, especially given Baldur’s Gate 3 being crowned Game Of The Year came as little surprise.
Christopher Judge, who won Best Performance for Kratos in God Of War Ragnarök at last year’s Game Awards, was back despite his ridiculously long acceptance speech last time, and came prepared with a joke.
While presenting an award Judge referenced his eight minute speech from last year and made a joke that it was longer than Modern Warfare 3’s campaign. But that didn’t go down well with everyone, including the voice actor for Captain Price.
The campaign mode is less than four hours long and was heavily criticised when it came out last month, but Barry Sloane, who voice Captain Price, shot back at the joke on Twitter, saying:
‘That Christopher Judge guy writes all his own material I hear. Talented,’ followed by a clown emoji.

Sloane quickly backtracked and posted another tweet, complementing Judge’s role in sci-fi series Stargate SG-1, saying, ‘Nah. All is fair in games of war. He was boss in Stargate.’
One of Sledgehammer’s software engineers, Darcy Sandall, also didn’t like to be called out for Modern Warfare 3’s short campaign, and said he ‘didn’t expect it from a peer’:
A designer who worked on the Modern Warfare games in the past also joined in, saying:
”Funny’, but yeah the metrics that Call Of Duty absolutely destroys all of the God Of War games (probably combined, to be honest) in is [sic] also equally laughable (if not more).’
It seems an especially silly thing to get bent out of shape about considering the short length isn’t up for debate and no one blames the developer for it anyway.
