Britney Spears has explained the reason behind her habit of frequently posting naked photos of herself on Instagram.
The 41-year-old pop icon attracts a lot of attention over what she shares on her social media, with the singer often choosing pictures or clips of herself naked, pole dancing or performing with knives – which she insists are fake.
Following her court-mandated conservatorship finally being ended after 13 years in November 2021, the star was allowed to regain control of her personal and professional life, which included full autonomy on her social media.
In part of her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, Britney acknowledged that people might find her Instagram posts puzzling, but she gets ‘a lot of joy’ from posing for – and taking – her own photos.
She also said it was the way ‘I feel sexy’ after decades in the spotlight with other people snapping her picture.
‘I know that a lot of people don’t understand why I love taking pictures of myself naked or in new dresses,’ the Toxic chart-topper wrote in an extract from the book, according to The New York Times.

‘But I think if they’d been photographed by other people thousands of times, prodded and posed for other people’s approval, they’d understand that I get a lot of joy from posing the way I feel sexy and taking my own picture,’ she added.
Britney previously raised eyebrows and concern over a video in which she danced and performed some of her signature moves, all while brandishing two huge kitchen knives.
Despite explaining that the knives were not real, worried fans contacted the police, who carried out a welfare check and determined she was not in any danger.
Britney did apologise for ‘spooking’ fans with the seemingly real knife-wielding moves, but branded the visit from the authorities a ‘joke’ in a frustrated post.

Over the weekend, the Stronger hitmaker deleted her Instagram before reinstalling it, after her memoir reportedly leaked in its entirety days before its release date.
Britney is to release her massively anticipated tome on October 24, however copies were seemingly available for sale almost an entire week early, on October 18.
The rest of the world has only seen reports of excerpts, with revelations including Britney and then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake making the difficult decision she should have an abortion after she fell pregnant by him as a teenager.
However, Mexico has apparently been given the opportunity to read it in full, as images have begun circulating of Britney’s memoir up for sale in the country.

Readers have filmed themselves flicking through the book, which in Spanish is titled La Mujer Que Soy, amid fan reports the book is officially on sale in the country.
Britney’s army of loyal followers have pleaded with anyone who has been able to purchase the book early not to share revelations or snippets from the memoir.
The Everytime singer has not commented on the reported leak and has previously deactivated her channel several times over the last few years, generally returning after a short break away.
