Britney Spears’ husband Sam Asghari has reportedly filed for divorce following reports of the couple’s separation.

After first meeting on the set of the singer’s music video for Slumber Party back in 2016, the pair became inseparable, with Sam, 29, remaining by the Toxic chart-topper’s side throughout her conservatorship battle.

They tied the knot in a star-studded wedding last year, but have reportedly now gone their separate ways, with Sam officially filing for divorce just 14 months later.

A source close to the model, actor and dancer, but unauthorised to speak publicly, confirmed that the filing happened late on Wednesday to the Associated Press.

It came hours after multiple US outlets including TMZ first reported the duo’s apparent split, although the publication could not identify court records in Los Angeles or Ventura counties to confirm the move.

Both Britney and Sam have yet to address the reports publicly of their separation or divorce.

The couple married at Britney’s Thousand Oaks home on June 9 last year in front of a star-studded guestlist including Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Madonna, after getting engaged the previous September.

Sam recently marked their milestone first anniversary on Instagram with a photo showing off their wedding rings, alongside the message: ‘Happy 1 year to me & my better half.’

He also uploaded a video montage of their big day, with the caption: ‘One year married to the woman of my dreams.

US outlets reported they had been arguing over allegations of cheating (Picture: Instagram/Britney Spears)

However, things have reportedly turned sour since, with TMZ reporting that insiders claimed they had a string of arguments concerning allegations of cheating, with the Sam moving out.

Sources told the outlet that he confronted the mum-of-two last week over claims that she had been unfaithful.

The insider said that Sam believed the claims, which led to a huge fight – he is thought to have left their home and is staying in a place of his own.

Since the reports of their marital issues surfaced, Britney has surfaced on Instagram to reveal she is ‘buying a horse soon’.

The star posted a photo of herself on Instagram riding a horse on the beach on Wednesday, after reports published that the relationship was ending.

In her Instagram post, Britney wrote: ‘Buying a horse soon! So many options it’s kinda hard!

‘I can’t make up my mind. Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on?’
