Britney Spears’ divorce turns bitter as she and Sam Asghari ‘no longer talking’

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have split after a six-year relationship and one-year marriage, and now things are said to be turning sour.

The pop icon, 41, hadn’t addressed the divorce until earlier today, when she explained she could no longer ‘take the pain.’

Dancer and model Sam previously said he and Britney would ‘hold onto the love and respect’ they have for each other amid the split.

He then added, ‘Sh*t happens,’ before asking for the media to be ‘kind and thoughtful’.

Britney took to Instagram to confirm the split and said she ‘couldn’t take the pain anymore.’

Court documents filed on Wednesday cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ for the divorce, but stated that the couple had separated almost three weeks ago.

Now, TMZ reports sources have claimed the two are not speaking, and haven’t since things ‘got really nasty’ and Sam ‘left their home’.

‘From here on out, we’re told all communication, negotiations and any other business to be handled between the two will be done by their legal teams,’ the publication continued.

Since the news of their split broke, reports have claimed Sam has made a number of accusations against Britney, including that she gave him a black eye and cheated with a member of their household staff.

This comes after Sam was said to have ‘threatened’ to expose embarrassing information about Britney.

According to the dissolution of marriage petition filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, as seen by the BBC, Sam has asked that spousal support and attorneys’ fees be paid by Britney.

A recent report from TMZ claims sources say their prenup – signed last year – entitles Sam to nothing in the event of divorce.

Sources added that the prenup also ‘precludes him from getting spousal support’. They also claim he can ‘keep the gifts Britney gave him and his cars, but that’s about it.’

The pair met on the set of Britney’s music video for Slumber Party in 2016, and after a lengthy battle to rid the Toxic hitmaker of her conservatorship, they married last year.
