Cameron Norrie was delighted to battle past Tomas Machac and book his place in the second round of Wimbledon on Tuesday.
The British No.1 beat Machac in four sets and also played down concerns over a knee injury.
Norrie reached the last four at Wimbledon last year and has been in three ATP Tour finals in 2023.
Reflecting on his victory over Czech world No.108, Norrie said: ‘I played, I reckon, a really good match with some normal drops in there but a lot to learn from and take from that match. But [it was a] good day and nice to get the win.
‘I would say I have been hitting the ball as well as I can coming in. Going out there today there was a lot of good feelings, sensations right from the beginning. I was just trying to enjoy it as much as I can. It’s such a special tournament to play here every year.
‘On the break points, I think there was a couple early on, I think I missed a second-serve return and then a forehand that I went inside in and hit the tape and went wide.
‘I think there was a couple there that I think I can execute a bit better. But I think honestly, he served really well in the break points, and some days you’re going to have that.

‘But yeah, I think a bit of both; sharpen up a bit, and a credit to him, he came up with some unbelievable volleys and he read the net very well.
‘I had to start playing better and had to come up with some really good passes and play a little bit more towards the lines.’
Quizzed about his knee problem, Norrie added: ‘Yeah, it’s bothered me a little bit, but today it felt great. I’m managing it as best that I can and have a good team around me doing that. But, yeah, it’s feeling better.’
