Fears are growing for a British 20-year-old who has gone missing in the Netherlands after suffering a psychotic break, his sister says.

Thomas Delafay, also known as Taiga Akabane, was last seen outside a hospital at 11.30pm on Sunday, June 11.

He had travelled with his boyfriend Tom Novelle to the city of Hoorn, around 20 miles north of Amsterdam, two days before to visit a mutual friend.

But while away Thomas, from Plymouth, had a psychotic breakdown and started struggling with hallucinations, his sister Holly said.

He was taken to Dijklander Hospital but it is believed he never went into the facility after arriving, with local police saying he ‘left in an unknown direction’.

Dutch police are treating Thomas as a ‘level one high-risk missing person’, Holly told PlymouthLive.

The young man is reportedly without his phone, any money or his passport.

Holly described her brother as around 5ft 10 in height, with a slender build.

He can be recognised by his purple and black hair which has been cut short at the sides and left long on top.

At the time of his disappearance, Thomas was wearing a black hoodie with letters all over it, black trousers and black shoes.

Holly made a desperate appeal on social media, posting photos of her brother with the caption: ‘I know I don’t have any friends from the Netherlands on here but if people would share the c**p out of this it would be greatly appreciated by my family and I.’

Multiple people commented that they hoped Thomas would be found ‘safe and sound’ with several Dutch locals promising to keep a look out in Hoorn.

Dutch police have released a statement describing Thomas and asked the public to get in touch with any information they might have.
