Succession’s Kieran Culkin has spilled what it’s really like filming with Brian Cox.
The HBO drama, from HBO’s Jesse Armstrong, drew to a close last month after following siblings Roman (Kieran), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Kendall (Jeremy Strong) desperately trying to claim their father Logan’s (Brian) empire.
In a shock twist, patriarch Logan died while on a private jet, leaving his children desperately scrabbling for Waystar Royco, which had been the subject of a take over by rival firm GoJo.
After years of rivalry the siblings appeared to reunite, agreeing that Kendall should be named CEO of the media company, only for Shiv to back out at the ninth hour.
Instead, her former husband Tom (Matthew Macfayden) and GoJo’s founder Lukas (Alexander Skarsgård) stake their claim to the business, with Kendall left completely ousted although ridiculously rich.

Reflecting on the juggernaut series, Kieran, 40, recalled filming with Brian, 77, with Claire Danes for Variety’s Actors on Actors series.
‘Whenever I have to shoot with Brian, it’s like, “Dad, I feel like I’m seven,”‘ he said.
‘He can be a scary guy.

‘Not to me — I can approach him as an adult. But for whatever reason, in character, I feel like I’m seven with him.’
Kieran said that there were members of the Succession cast, including Sarah, who had believed ‘the entire time’ that there would be another series of the show.
‘I’d actually stopped asking what was coming later. And that was the thing: I liked it. I liked not knowing,’ he said.
Jeremy has also spoken about the filming of Succession, revealing he had to be stopped from acting out an alternative ending.
‘I looked at these waves. And it was so windy that day, and so cold. And there was some piece of metal clanging and it was this terrible sound,’ he told the official Succession podcast.
‘And I sort of couldn’t bear it.
‘I stood up and walked slowly to the barrier that was set up there and climbed over it. And I didn’t really know what I plan to do. And the actor playing Colin saw me and ran and stopped me from doing it.’

In hindsight, though, he said creator Jesse’s final ‘choice was better’.
