Brexit LIVE: EU in new fishing wars ultimatum – Article 16 looms as bloc refuses to budge

The Daily Express says EUROPEAN COMMISSIONER issues a stark warning to the UK to conclude the fishing negotiations “on time and in a satisfactory manner” as the ongoing row over the Northern Ireland Protocol continues.

Speaking at an event on the Northern Ireland protocol, European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič spoke about the commitment of the European Union to bring stability on the island of Ireland and urged the UK to “play its part” in coming to a “joint solution”, indicating that the bloc will not budge. Mr Šefčovič said how the last few months have been particularly busy and challenging “on the fisheries front” and he urged the UK to deliver the necessary licences, in hope of concluding the issues with France and the EU “on time and in a satisfactory manner.”
