Bradley Walsh has appeared on a string of shows over the years and now it looks like his son Barney is continuing to follow in his footsteps.

The father and son have spent the past four years on screen together in Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad as The Chase host takes Barney on a coming of age road trip across several countries.

But it was a surprise appearance when the pair appeared alongside each other in 2021 on The Larkins, which allowed Barney to show off his dramatic acting chops.

Now the younger Walsh is now set to have his next role in the upcoming Death in Paradise Christmas special and new series.

Announced today, Barney will be one of the guests who will get to spend Christmas in the Caribbean with D.I. Neville Parker and his team.

While it is unclear just who Barney will play, the BBC has teased that ‘Christmas in Saint Marie takes a spooky turn this year when an old case of Selwyn’s comes back to haunt him following the murder of a true crime podcaster on the hunt for a missing child’.

Meanwhile, Marlon (Tahj Miles) will be forced to spend the night in a haunted house and Darlene (Ginny Holder) will take a hard look at her life choices.

And after a chance encounter in an airport car park, love might finally be in the air for Parker (Ralf Little).

Then, the next series will ‘kick off with the mysterious death of a celebrity astronomer . . . a bunch of Preppers digging in for the apocalypse and an impossible killing on a boat’. So, just in a day’s work for the crime solving stars.

The special will also see Coronation Street’s Les Dennis and Derry Girl’s Siobhan McSweeney jet off to Saint Marie.

Other guests include Chelsea Edge (I Hate Suzie), Robert Webb (Peep Show), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails), Jo Martin (Doctor Who), Christopher Villiers (Top Secret!), Kevin Eldon (Sanditon), Amit Shah (Happy Valley) and Jo Hartley (After Life).

Although on our screens for 12 years now, 2021 was the first time there was a Death in Paradise festive episode, but it was a roaring success, drawing in 8.8 million and making it the third most watched show of the festive period.

The Death in Paradise Christmas Special will air later this year on BBC One and iPlayer.
