A heroic little boy saved a four-year-old from drowning in a hotel swimming pool while on holiday in Turkey.
Lewis Smith, 10, was playing with his snorkel in the water at the Belkon Hotel in the seaside town of Belek on June 7, when he spotted what he initially thought was litter.
He reached out to pick it up and realised he had grabbed hold of the younger child’s arm.
Lewis pulled the boy, named only as Grayson, to the surface and shouted for his mum who ran to the side of the pool and pulled him out.
Luckily, Lewis’s dad Craig, 33, is a firefighter and was able to use his training to conduct CPR on Grayson.
Craig, from Hull, East Yorkshire, said: ‘I was giving him little rescue breaths, but unfortunately, it seemed the boy had been submerged for a couple of minutes under the water.
‘Everybody was in a sort of state of shock and panic. I had to ask someone to hold his airways in place. I asked someone at the hotel to get a defibrillator, then I continued CPR, and I managed to get his breath back.

‘But he had really shallow breathing, so I continued doing rescue breaths.’
An ambulance arrived and took Grayson and his parents to a hospital where the little boy was reportedly put into an induced coma.
His grandma took the first flight over to Turkey and stayed in the hotel to look after Grayson’s siblings.
She met up with Lewis and his family to thank them and told them Grayson had pulled through and was breathing again.

Craig said: ‘It was fantastic to hear that together we had managed to save his life.
‘We are so proud of Lewis and what he managed to do. He kept really calm, and he carried the little boy to safety, to the corner of the pool.
‘At first, he was a little bit shocked and was asking a lot of questions. But when we found out he was ok, he was just ecstatic. He said: “Thank god”.’
The dad added that, while the hotel had advertised there would be no lifeguards at the pool, ‘it didn’t seem there were first aiders onsite’.
