Boris Johnson backs Belarusian opposition leader as international scrutiny of Lukashenko’s regime builds
The i says Boris Johnson said he is “on the side” of the Belarusian opposition leader as he welcomed her to No10 amid heightened international scrutiny of Alexander Lukashenko’s regime.
During a Downing Street meeting, the Prime Minister said he supported politician Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in her opposition to Lukashenko.
International pressure on the Belarusian Government has ramped up following the treatment of Olympic sprinter Krystsina Tsimanouskaya, who was forced to seek refuge in Poland after claiming Belarus officials tried to force her home.
