‘Bonkers’ new thriller starring 90s heartthrob lands rare Rotten Tomatoes score
Josh Hartnett’s new action thriller has received a very rare, perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fresh from his efforts in Trap, the 46-year-old’s latest film has seen him take on assassins on a long-haul plane journey in Fight or Flight.
In the flick, directed by James Madigan, he played mercenary Lucas Reyes, who was asked to track down a mysterious asset on board a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco.
While that may sound simple, things didn’t quite go to plan when he realized that other passengers had been sent to kill them both.
The movie was released on Sky Cinema in the UK back in February, and will hit the big screen in the US on May 9 – but has already attracted a string of rave reviews online.
In fact, it currently boasts a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics commending Josh’s action skills.

Jack Martin from Film Feeder praised: ‘Fight or Flight is a bonkers action-comedy that is fun and devilishly gory enough to overlook some of its more gaping flaws, while providing Josh Hartnett with another magnetic lead turn in a script filled with chaos.’
Donald Clarke of the Irish Times agreed: ‘James Madigan, hitherto a second-unit director, takes precisely the right attitude from the opening skirmish.
‘This is cartoon violence at a level of savagery that might give Itchy & Scratchy pause for thought.’

Critics branded the flick ‘bonkers’ (Picture: Sky TV)
‘A violent “assassins on a plane” romp that sees Josh Hartnett have the best time with a chainsaw,’ Digital Spy’s Ian Sandwell said.
As Chris Wasser at the Sunday Independent added: ‘The brutal, bone-crunching combat sequences are fun, and you haven’t lived until you’ve seen a bleach-blonde Hartnett run riot with a chainsaw.’
The official synopsis reads: ‘Exiled American agent Lucas Reyes (Josh Hartnett) is given one last chance to redeem himself — the assignment is to track down and identify a mysterious, international high-value asset known only as The Ghost on a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco.
‘Complicating matters, the plane is filled with assassins from around the world who are assigned to kill them both.
‘The pair must work together in a fight for their lives. At 37,000 feet, the stakes have never been higher.’
Josh has starred in a number of hits over the years, including Pearl Harbor, The Faculty, Lucky Number Slevin and 40 Days and 40 Nights.
He then turned his back on the limelight in Hollywood to enjoy a quieter life with his wife, actress Tamsin Egerton, and their four children.

However, the Oppenheimer star is clearly going all out to promote Fight or Flight, including an iconic – if not brief – return to our timelines.
In a new post from the film’s official Instagram account, he filmed a video to hype the blockbuster up, in the most Josh Hartnett way possible.
Only half of his face appeared at the bottom of the clip, with the sound of typing playing over the footage as a message on screen read: ‘Me promoting my film before ghosting social media for another 10 years.’
Fight or Flight will be released in US cinemas on May 9.
