Bob’s Burgers voice actor Jay Johnston has been arrested and charged in connection with the 2021 attack on the US Capitol.
The 54-year-old star – who voiced the character Jimmy Pesto – was reportedly kicked off the show before the beginning of the 12th season after claims he was at the insurrection on January 6 2021.
According to reports at the time, a source said the cast and crew on the show and Fox itself are not looking to make a ‘big deal’ out of his exit.
Johnston was identified in a photo by ‘three current or former associates,’ and he has since been brought into custody.
The FBI’s complaint claims he allegedly ‘assisted at least three other rioters by pouring water on the rioters’ faces to abate the effects of tear gas.
The documents also allege he stole a US Capitol Police shield to battle with police.

‘The FBI has interviewed three current or former associates of Johnston, all of whom identified Johnston as the individual in the above photographs of 247-AFO,’ the complaint read.
Allegations were first made against him in March 2021 when the FBI was seeking information on people at the insurrection.
In a post on social media, there were two photos of a person – one with a camouflage face covering on, and another without – who looked similar to the actor.

On January 6 2021, the riot took place while Congress was counting the Electoral College ballots and working towards certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential race.
Earlier in the day, then-president Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to march towards the Capitol as he repeated false claims of voting fraud.
The insurrection saw four people die on the day, with a Capitol police officer dying the following day after getting injured while defending Congress, and hundreds more were injured with four officers taking their own lives since the riot.
