Bill Nighy and Anna Wintour are not in a relationship and our day has been ruined.
The actor, 73, and Vogue editor, 72, made headlines on Tuesday morning as the UK woke up and began devouring the outrageous outfits and juicy gossip of the 2023 Met Gala.
Amid the likes of Kim Kardashian wearing pearls and not much else, and Rihanna seemingly dressing as a giant meringue after rocking up very fashionably late, one of the biggest news from the night was Bill and Anna spending time at the event arm-in-arm.
Rumours have swirled for over a decade that the pair are in a relationship, having been seen enjoying dinner together everywhere from London to Rome to New York, and a source claiming last year that they are together and keeping it private.
But as fans became convinced that the pair stepping out together at the Met Gala was a confirmation of the relationship, this was quickly shut down.
A representative for Bill told Metro.co.uk: ‘Bill and Anna have simply been great friends for two decades.’

They added, in no uncertain terms: ‘They are not in a relationship.’
Well, there goes our new favourite couple.
Speculation the old friends are dating have followed the pair since 2010, with the duo often seen enjoying dinner together, Bill at one point seen presenting her with a red rose.
And at Monday night’s Met – the event organised by Anna annually since 1995 – the pair stepped out together, their arms linked as they greeted guests and press.

Anna, naturally, looked the picture of fashion guru, wearing a kaleidoscopic outfit featuring diamond-studded cats, while Bill looked smart in a sharp navy suit and tie.
Speculation on the pair’s relationship goes way back, with rumours swirling since 2010.
Bill, however, has declined to comment on their friendship in the past.

He told the MailOnline in 2015: ‘Obviously I have nothing to say about that.
‘There are a lot of rumours about me and probably about Anna Wintour.’
