‘Day five in the Big Brother house, 1:32pm, some of the housemates are in the living room.’ We’re imagining you read that line in your best Geordie accent, and that’s due to Marcus Bentley’s iconic voiceover.
Much has changed about Big Brother since its launch in 2000 until the cancellation in 2018 – the decor, the presenters, an ever-changing cast of contestants and even the TV channel – but Marcus has remained a consistent presence as narrator.
It is therefore reportedely a ‘no-brainer’ for ITV to bring him back for the upcoming reboot with now confirmed hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best.
‘It was a no brainer to have Marcus back for the new era – he is simply the voice associated with Big Brother UK,’ an insider told The Sun.
Marcus has already got to work, in his familiar booming voice he addressed presenter Richard Arnold during Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain, reporting on the new presenters.

‘Hello Richard Arnold, this is Big Brother. AJ Odudu and Will Best will be making their way to the diary room,’ he stated.
Richard then clarified: ‘We should just say that the voice of the show Marcus Bentley is not yet confirmed, but we should hear more news.’
The 55-year-old professional voiceover artist has been publicly supportive about the ITV reboot, retweeting the official Big Brother account when it announced AJ, 35, and Will, 38, as hosts writing: ‘Here we go!!! Good luck guys. X’
He also called Big Brother ‘the greatest show on earth.’
When one fan remarked that they are waiting for his confirmed involvement, Marcus responded: ‘Hopefully soon.’
Mark, who is from Gateshead, previously told The Guardian he originally got the job due to the way he pronounced the word chicken.
‘I had to record something like, “Darren is in the garden, feeding the chickens” [for the audition].’
The Commissioning Editor of Channel 4 revealed to Mark years later that it’s how he got the job: ‘It tickled her in some way.’
There has been plenty of excitement for the show so far, including from the hosts themselves.
AJ said: ‘Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honor.’
