Big Brother bosses are reportedly stepping up security measures after an incident occurred last week.

It had been claimed on Thursday, October 12, that a YouTuber attempted  to fly a drone over the London property and film housemates including Yinrun, Farida and Hallie.

Panicked members of the security team were then reported to have tried to remove the man, who filmed their conversation and refused to leave, telling them that his stunt was ‘fair game’.

As the series has only just begun, with the series estimated to run for over six weeks, it has been reported that ITV bosses want to protect the location and hope filming can continue without fear of any similar interruptions or distractions.

A source has claimed: ‘While security measures have always been in place, there was always the hope that the relatively remote location of the Big Brother house might limit the number of people who might attempt to access the house.’

The insider continued to The Sun: ‘But given how popular the reboot of the show has been since launching last week, it has become clear there’s a huge interest in it.

‘And putting footage of attempts to access the house on social media makes it a tempting prospect.

A Big Brother spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘We have robust and rigorous security measures in place across our site for the safety of the Big Brother house, production team and Housemates.

‘Safety and welfare is always a priority.’

Tomorrow is the event of the year; the relaunch of Big Brother on ITV.

More than 2.5million people tuned in to watch the Big Brother launch with AJ Odudu and Will Best earlier this month, the BBC reported.

This marked a huge spike when compared to another ITV show – Love Island – which only managed to draw in an audience of 1.3m people on TV this summer, with an additional 400,000 on streaming.

The viewing figures for the Big Brother 2023 launch marked the biggest audience the show has received in more than a decade, as the programme reportedly had 2.7m viewers for its premiere in 2012, and 2.6m the previous year.

In 2018 – the final year that the reality show aired before it was axed – it was said that only 0.9m viewers watched the first episode of the season.

Big Brother continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2.
