Vice President Kamala Harris is likely to become the next Presidential candidate for the Democrats after Joe Biden announced he was stepping down from running for re-election.
Harris has been a firm supporter of Biden throughout the campaign and over the years, despite a disastrous debate that was aired on CNN last month.
If Harris happened to win the Democrat nomination and later Presidency, she would be the first female President and the first Black and Asian American President in the US.

Biden ‘gave aides one minute’s notice he was dropping out of presidential race’
Joe Biden reportedly gave some of his closest aides just one minute’s notice he would be exiting this year’s presidential race.
The US president, who announced yesterday he is stepping down as the Democrat’s presumptive nominee, had spent the last week insisting he had no plans to drop out.
As recently as Saturday, his aides were said to be putting together a campaign schedule for when he returned from his beach house in Delaware, where he’s been recovering from Covid.
But the pressure from fractions of his party to quit were growing and by Sunday morning he had changed his mind, reports the BBC.

Donald Trump has said Joe Biden is ‘the worst President in the history of the United States‘ after he announced he was stepping down from running for re-election.
He wrote on his social media platform Truth: ‘Crooked Joe Biden is the Worst President, by far, in the History of our Nation.
‘He has done everything possible to destroy our Country, from our Southern Border, to Energy Dominance, National Security, International Standing, and so much more.
‘He was annihilated in an Earth Shattering Debate, and now the Corrupt and Radical Democrats are throwing him overboard. He was not fit to serve from the very beginning, but the people around him lied to America about his Complete and Total Mental, Physical, and Cognitive Demise.

Despite attempting to mount several comebacks, a few other high-profile gaffes only added to the pressure – which saw high-profile Democrats and Democratic figures call on the president to step aside. Biden will remain in office until the end of his term. The US will head to the polls in November to elect their new president – a race that now looks likely to be Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump. The new president will assume office in January 2025.
