Best Fifa Awards winners to be announced on Monday in London ceremony
Get ready for football’s grand night as The Best Fifa Football Awards roll into London on Monday, January 15. The spotlight is on the top players, with Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi vying for the coveted men’s player award, while Aitana Bonmati, Linda Caicedo, and Jennifer Hermoso shine as the women’s contenders.
The winners, decided by a mix of votes from national team players, captains, journalists, and fans on Fifa’s website, each contributing 25%, will be revealed. The awards include best coach and goalkeeper for both men and women.
The Puskas Award, named after Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskas, will recognise the best goal, with pundits having the final say.
Unlike the Ballon d’Or, which assesses performances over a season, the Fifa Best Awards typically cover a calendar year. However, this year’s men’s awards and the Puskas Award consider performances from December 19, 2022, to August 20, 2023, due to the inclusion of the
Qatar World Cup in last year’s ceremony. The women’s awards focus on performances from August 1, 2022, to August 20, 2023.
Beyond individual honours, there are also awards for a fan and fair play, while a men’s and women’s World XI will be named.
The ceremony will be shown live on BBC iPlayer and online from 19:30 GMT.
