BBC News viewers have witnessed another somewhat awkward moment after a studio was plunged into darkness live on-air.
The national broadcaster’s Look North presenter Dave Edwards found himself having to think on his feet after the lights went out as he was reading a news bulletin.
On Friday morning Edwards was running through the morning headlines when the studio was suddenly plunged into darkness.
He began: ‘Good morning from Look North, hope you’re well, these are our main stories this morning.’
As the lights went off he said: ‘Oh. Needing to put a few coins in the metre I think.’
Pushing through, he decided to keep going, continuing to read off the teleprompter.

At the same time there seemed to also be some trouble with the audio, with it sounding like a microphone was hitting against something.
Further into the programme Edwards offered an apology to viewers.
‘Apologies again for the technical problems. We will try to get those sorted. More from us in half an hour’s time,’ he said.
Last month the show was hit by a similar problem when the lights went out on an April 19 broadcast.
As she began the show, Clare Frisby had to immediately apologise to viewers, explaining that the lights were of due to a ‘problem in the studio’.
‘I hope that you can still hear me and we will still be able to run our reports,’ she said.
The technical issue at BBC this week comes a day after another presenter was left slightly read faced while reading the news.

On Thursday Lukwesa Burak realised she was still live on air, but not before she’d had a chance to have a big stretch.

However, after she was told the cameras were still rolling, her face dropped and she did her best to cover up the moment.
Seeing the humour though, plenty of people said they sympathised with being tired at work, while Burak later commenting on people’s social media posts, and joking she was ‘here to serve’.
