Daily Mirror – BBC chief: I’m sorry for Strictly abuse row
Professional dancers on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing feel they have been “hung out to dry” by celebrities, according to the Daily Mirror. The paper says many don’t feel protected amid the outpouring of previous grievances from a host of celebrities about their time on the show. It comes as it’s been reported that the BBC is facing a potential £1million personal injury bill with “more and more” celebs speaking to lawyers.
The front page reports Andy Murray has announced his retirment from tennis as he prepares to compete as this summer’s Olympics.
Elsewhere, the Mirror has been campaigning for Dentists for All as the number of patients unable to access an NHS dentist tripled to a record 13 million. The estimate from the NHS GP survey is up from 12.3million in 2023, 11 million in 2022 and 4.3 million in 2019.
EXCLUSIVE: BBC Strictly Come Dancing pros’ fury as they feel ‘hung out to dry’ by celebrities
Widespread anger has broken out among Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dancers who fear they’re being “hung out to dry” by their former partners.
Many don’t feel protected amid the outpouring of previous grievances from a host of celebrities about their time on the show. It comes as it’s been reported that the BBC is facing a potential £1million personal injury bill with “more and more” celebs speaking to lawyers.
A source said: “It’s causing untold stress and mental anguish to so many of them as every day there are new accusations. Yes, one or two of the celebs in the last 20 years might have had a bad experience but they are in a tiny minority. The whole thing smacks of ambulance chasing.”
Andy Murray to retire after Olympics following emotional Wimbledon farewell
Andy Murray has announced his retirment from tennis as he prepares to compete as this summer’s Olympics.
Taking to Twitter ahead of this summer’s games in Paris, he wrote: “Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament @Olympics. Competing for GB have been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I’m extremely proud to get do it one final time!”
Murray bid a heart-wrenching farewell to Wimbledon earlier this month. He did not play in the men’s singles, that he won in 2013 and 2016, and was forced to pull out of the mixed doubles alongside Emma Raducanu after her injury issues.
Dental patients will be able to grab one of 700,000 extra NHS appointments
Health Secretary Wes Streeting has promised to urgently deliver 700,000 dental appointments to help desperate patients who can’t see a dentist.
Mr Streeting said new slots will be rolled out “as a matter of urgency” to address “dental deserts” where people have no access to NHS dental care. The new Labour Government will keep some of the Tory dentistry recovery plan but will ditch the “gimmicks”, he said.
The Mirror has been campaigning for Dentists for All as the number of patients unable to access an NHS dentist tripled to a record 13 million. The estimate from the NHS GP survey is up from 12.3million in 2023, 11 million in 2022 and 4.3 million in 2019.

Wednesday’s front pages offer a welcome break from the dominant stories over the past few weeks, as politics slips off many front pages, leaving room for other domestic topics and some showbiz gossip.
The BBC’s apology regarding the Strictly Come Dancing scandal is a prominent story for many of the tabloids, amid whispers the popular reality TV show could face the axe. Many of the front pages carry pictures of the three-time Olympic dressage champion, Charlotte Dujardin, who’s pulled out of the Paris Games after a video emerged which she said showed her “making an error of judgement”.
Football dominates the back pages, including the latest transfer reports and gossip.
