Awesome Games Done Quick returns for its first major charity marathon of 2024, so here’s everything you need to know about the event.

Since its inception in 2010, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) has become the flagship event for speedrunners – where people compete to complete games, or sections of games, as fast as possible and raise money for charity at the same time.

This year’s event is no different. Taking place in-person in Pittsburgh, US, Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 is being held in support of the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Last year’s event raised over $2.6 million for the organisation.

The event spans an entire week with back-to-back runs, with the line-up this year ranging from newbies like Starfield to obscurities like Backyard Skateboarding.

When is Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 and how can I watch it?

This year’s event starts Sunday, January 14 with a pre-show from 11.30am EST (4.30pm GMT). After this, the first run of the event will be Tunic. The marathon will continue over the entire week, concluding with a run of Final Fantasy 5 Pixel Remaster on Sunday January 21.

The event is streamed live on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel, with some runs uploaded on YouTube following the marathon. You can check out the stream below.

What is the schedule for Awesome Games Done Quick 2024?

You can find the full schedule for the event here, which should convert to your local time zone automatically. As it is a streaming marathon, however, some delays are possible.

What runs should I look out for?

As announced last year, one of the likely highlights will be speedrunner JSR, who has trained their dog to play NES game Gyromite using a custom-made controller. This is scheduled to take place at 7.18pm GMT on Tuesday January 16.

On the following day at 6.22am GMT, there’s a hardcore no damage attempt run of Resident Evil 2 Remake, which will likely be a source of some impressive dodges around Mr X. If you’re after more zombies, there’s a run of Resident Evil 4 remake on Friday at 11.40pm too.

As for races, there’s an Elden Ring vs. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice sprint on Saturday at 7.30pm, along with a four-way relay on The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask earlier on the same day at 3.49am.

If you’re after new releases, a run of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom begins Saturday at 11.33pm, which will likely showcase some Ultrahand wizardry. If the event hits the incentive to unlock it, there will also be a run of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Sunday at 12.51am.
