Mercedes was left utterly destroyed by Bobby’s chilling demand – is this truly the end of their relationship? (Picture: Lime Pictures)
Mercedes McQueen’s (Jennifer Metcalfe) world was shattered in Hollyoaks once more after a phone call from son Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox) on Mother’s Day didn’t pan out as she’d hoped.
The former landlady of the Dog in the Pond was left heartbroken last week when she had a dream that Bobby, who’s in prison for murder and attempted murder, visited her with a gift.
The day in question, her first Mother’s Day since Bobby’s sentencing, proved a difficult one for her, and thus Honour Chen-Williams (Vera Chok) made some calls, hoping to organise a video call for the suffering mum and her son.
Mercedes was delighted when Honour’s efforts proved successful, with Monday’s (March 20) first look offering of the Channel 4 soap seeing her get all dressed up, excited about virtually reuniting with her son – especially given how things were left between them.
The video call was changed to a phone call, which didn’t bother Mercy too much, but the bigger shock came soon afterwards when Bobby, who was extremely cold, showed little effort to make amends when her spoke her, instead making some horrific comments.
The jailed killer asked Mercedes to grant him a Mother’s Day wish, asking that she have no further children, branding her a ‘terrible’ mother.

Mercedes was crushed, but Bobby wasn’t finished just yet, as he said that that it’s ‘no wonder’ Gabriel died, before killing the call.
Horrific.
Bobby, as viewers know, was sentenced to decades in prison for claiming three lives, in addition to trying to kill a fourth.

The killer was taken to a secure prison facility, but not before writing a note to mum Mercedes, telling her that he wants nothing more to do with her, blaming her for his imprisonment.
Mercedes had been hopeful that Bobby would see the error of his ways but, if this phone call is anything to go by, the killer hasn’t learned a thing, once again blaming his mum for his sins.
