Gatwick flights cancelled after air traffic control staff shortages On Thursday, Gatwick Airport flights were cancelled, delayed or diverted at short notice due to a shortage of air traffic controllers. The airport confirmed 22 cancellations as of 22:00 BST, whilst the website FlightRadar24 said hundreds of flights in and out of the airport were delayed. The National Air Traffic Services (Nats) apologised for its staffing shortages. Normal service is expected to resume on Friday. Workers start strike at US motor industry giants Three of the biggest US carmakers have seen more than 10,000 staff walkout in the latest industrial action. Work has stopped at three plants owned by General Motors (GM), Ford and Stellantis. Labour contracts expired on Thursday night and the union UAW said the firms had not put forward acceptable offers. UK, France and Germany to keep nuclear sanctions on Iran The UK, France and Germany will retain sanctions on Iran in an attempt to deter Tehran from selling drones and missiles to Russia.
